At the request of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the Louisiana Motor Transport Association & LMTA Foundation are sharing an important update with the commercial motor vehicle industry.
This notice applies to all motor carriers and registrants nationwide, regardless of association membership or location.
FMCSA has established a no-later-than (NLT) deadline of May 14, 2026, for all registrants to obtain or update their FMCSA Portal accounts. More than two million entities are being contacted directly, and immediate action is strongly encouraged.
FMCSA is also preparing to launch a new registration system, MOTUS. Taking a few minutes now to verify your account information will help ensure a smooth transition once the system goes live.
What you should do now:
Why this matters
Failure to update your Portal account before the deadline may result in delays or difficulty accessing MOTUS during rollout. Completing these steps now will help avoid unnecessary disruptions.
FMCSA has provided a Portal Registration User Guide, job aids, and additional materials through its Registration Modernization Resources Hub to assist with this transition.
If assistance is needed, FMCSA’s support team is available at 1-800-832-5660.
LMTA & LMTA Foundation encourage you to share this message with colleagues and industry contacts to help ensure the entire trucking community is prepared. An official MOTUS launch date will be announced soon.
Thank you for your attention to this important industry update.
